Why I voted for Kamala Harris

I received my ballot a few days ago and yesterday I sent my E-ballot to the Spokane County Election Office of Washington State.  My vote is now in the books and ready to be counted on November 5th. As you can tell from the picture, I voted for Kamala Harris for President.

Here's why.

1. TRUMP IS A LIAR. As documented by various fact checkers, Trump told over 30,000 lies while he was President.  Few, if any, politicians are completely candid, but Trump lies like the rest of us breathe, and I don't appreciate someone so dishonest.

2. TRUMP WAS ADJUDICATED AS A SEXUAL OFFENDER.  In the E. Jean Carroll case the judge ruled that Trump was guilty of sexual assault.  He also was found guilty of telling lies about Carroll that were defamatory.  There are also 23 credible accusations by other women against Trump for sexual misconduct.

3. TRUMP IS A FELON.  He was convicted by a jury in New York of 34 counts for an illegal scheme to pay hush money to a porn star he had sex with (while Melania was at home trying to raise an infant).  Trump has a few other cases on hold as well.

4. TRUMP IS A TRAITOR WHO TRIED TO OVERTURN A LEGITIMATE ELECTION.  I think you all know about the January 6th insurrection where he incited his followers to storm the Capitol to overturn the  legitimate transfer of power.

5. TRUMP IS A RACIST.  There are dozens of examples including his false campaign accusing President Obama of being a foreigner without a legitimate birth certificate.  How about his current campaign of trying to stir up racial animosity by accusing Haitian immigrants in Ohio of eating the cats and dogs of the local residents?  Of course not one ounce of evidence has been uncovered to support this racist claim.

6. TRUMP IS AN ISLAMOPHOBE.  His first act as President in 2017 was to sign an order to prevent Muslims from entering the U.S.

7. TRUMP IS A MISOGYNIST.  There are many examples of his harsh comments and actions against women.

8. TRUMP IS A RUSSIAN ASSET.  There are dozens of examples of how Trump has done Russia's bidding and has taken multiple actions to support Russia's interests, including undermining NATO and speaking out against the Ukraine.  Could it be because Russia has provided hundred of millions of dollars in loans to Trump over the years?

9. TRUMP IS LAZY.  While he was President he spent most of his time golfing, watching Fox News, and sitting on the toilet rage Tweeting.  He promised a new healthcare plan to replace Obamacare.  Did he ever do anything?  Nope.  And in the debate a couple of weeks ago he admitted he still didn't have plan, nine years after his initial promise.  Instead, he told the debate audience that he had "concepts of a plan."  He also promised an infrastructure program throughout his presidency.  Never did that either.  It took Joe Biden to create that plan which is now in full swing, rebuilding America's crumbling infrastructure.

10.  TRUMP PROMISES TO PUNISH AND JAIL ALL HIS ENEMIES INCLUDING JOURNALISTS. One of the examples includes his promise to prosecute Barack Obama in front of a military tribunal.  For what crime?  Who knows?  Today he also promised to jail me and thousands of people like me.  Because he says overseas voters like me are frauds who are supporting Democrats, we get to be thrown in jail when he becomes President.

I could add at least 50 more Anti-Trump reasons, but you get the idea.

Here are some reasons to vote for Kamala Harris.

1. HARRIS WILL CONTINUE TO ENACT CLIMATE CHANGE PROGRAMS.  While Donald Trump and his followers say that climate change is a hoax, Harris has outlined a continuation of programs supporting positive climate change action.

2. HARRIS WILL PROTECT WOMEN'S FREEDOMS.  Trump hired the judges who removed Roe v Wade and now many U.S. states have enacted laws that prohibit abortion even in cases of rape, incest, and to save the life of the mother.  Trump's allies will push him to enact a national abortion ban that will extend these draconian laws to the entire nation.

3. THE LGBTQIA COMMUNITY WILL BE PROTECTED BY A HARRIS PRESIDENCY.  This community will be threatened and terrorized by a return of Trump and his harsh allies.

4. HARRIS WILL PROTECT AMERICAN DEMOCRACY AND VOTING RIGHTS in contrast to Trump's promise that he will end democracy on day one.

5. HARRIS'S ECONOMIC AND TAX POLICIES ARE GEARED TO HELPING MIDDLE-CLASS AMERICANS as opposed to Trump's proposal for tariffs, which will make inflation worse and his tax policies which are much more beneficial to millionaires and billionaires.

6. HARRIS WILL WORK MORE EFFECTIVELY WITH WORLD LEADERS, MOST OF WHOM DREAD A RETURN BY TRUMP.

7. HARRIS IS NOT UNDER THE CONTROL OF THE CHRISTIAN EXTREMISTS WHO ARE IN ACTIVE COLLABORATION WITH TRUMP.

8. CRIME IS DOWN UNDER BIDEN/HARRIS THE PAST TWO YEARS.  Her common sense policies will have a more-positive impact on crime than Trump's ineffective ideas.

9. HARRIS ISN'T A CRAZY OLD MAN.  Trump's erratic behavior and declining cognitive skills will be an issue if he is elected, whereas Harris's positive demeanor is a breath of fresh air and much more appropriate to being the nation's leader. Not to mention that many psychiatrists label Trump a narcissist and sociopath who is motivated totally by self-gratification.  This is not the kind of person whose finger should be on the nuclear button, whereas Harris seems to be relatively normal person not suffering from serious mental health issues.

10. HARRIS WILL APPOINT MODERATE JUDGES AND SUPPORT SUPREME COURT REFORM. Much of the nation's current problems spring from courts packed by Trump containing judges who act on political considerations on behalf of Republicans rather than being impartial arbiters of the law.

As you have probably noticed, I haven't mentioned one extremely important issue:  Palestine. There are some incredibly important facts you should know.  Americans have been propagandized for the past 80 years to be uncritically supportive of Israel.  AIPAC and other Israeli lobbying groups have pumped hundreds of millions of dollars into the U.S. political system and sponsored propaganda tours of Israel for members of Congress for decades.  It is not possible for a serious candidate for U.S. President to provide meaningful support to Palestine.  It would be political suicide, so no major candidate for President will ever stand up unhesitatingly for Palestine.

Let me illustrate my point even further.  In March, I cast a ballot in the Washington State Presidential Primary.  I refused to cast a ballot for Joe Biden because of his horrific Palestine policy.  We organized a movement so that a vote for an "uncommitted delegate" or "no preference" was a protest vote in favor of changing U.S. policy in Palestine, instead of voting for Joe Biden.  There are 4,000,000 registered voters in Washington State and only 89,764 of us were willing to stand up for Palestinian rights by voting for the uncommitted option.  That represented 9.8% of Democratic Party voters and only about 2.3% of all Washington voters...in a state that is more liberal and supportive of Palestine than many others.  That incredibly small number should be a lesson about the low level of commitment in the U.S. to standing up against Israeli aggression. Even worse, only about 4.25% of all Democratic party voters in every state voted for the "uncommitted delegate," half the rate of the pathetic level of support in Washington State. Horrible U.S. policy toward Palestine is a reflection of the level of apathy, ignorance, and hostility of the American people themselves toward Palestine and the extreme success of Israel's 80-year propaganda campaign.  So, let's be real here about the possibility of casting any meaningful vote in the Presidential election based on U.S. Middle East policy.

So, how should people who care about Palestine vote?

Trump gets an "F" for his complete, unequivocal support of Israel and his exhortations that Israel completely destroy Gaza.  He's constantly speaking to extreme Zionist groups and they are some of his most enthusiastic funders of his campaign.  He speaks glowingly of Benjamin Netanyahu.  Even worse is the fact that his son-in-law Jared Kushner is working with Israel on plans to re-develop Gaza after the genocide to create a new Mediterranean version of Dubai.  There could even be a potential Trump Tower in the works.  Anything one does to help Trump regain the White House hurts Palestinians the most.

Harris barely gets a "D-" for her lack of support of Palestine, but here are a couple extremely small things to consider.

*All the Democratic power brokers and Zionist Democrats were urging Harris to pick Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro to be her Vice Presidential running mate.  Shapiro is a strong Zionist who has made some horrible pro-Israeli statements about Gaza (for example, Shapiro said the pro-Palestinian protestors on college campuses were anti-Semitic and modern versions of the racist Ku Klux Klan) and if Harris would have picked him, I would have seriously considered not voting for her.  However, she shocked everyone by not picking Shapiro, going instead with the Governor of Minnesota, Tim Walz, who has been relatively quiet on the issue, certainly not a rabid Zionist like Shapiro.  That was a small positive in my book.

*When Netanyahu visited the U.S. recently, all reports were that his meeting with Harris was tense and that the Prime Minister was criticized and pressured by Harris.  Israeli press and extremists indicated some displeasure with the meeting and Harris's approach.  Furthermore, she refused to have her photo taken with Netanyahu in a publicity event, unlike Trump who was hugging and slobbering all over Netanyahu when they met and posed for photos with him before Netanyahu met with Harris.  Additionally, Harris was criticized by Zionists for failing to attend Netanyahu's speech to the U.S. Congress in her role as Head of the Senate.  I think it is a small reason for hope that she refused to participate in Congress's Netanyahu love fest.

Yes, Harris is a disgrace when it comes to Palestinian policy, but Trump would be the absolutely worst possible option beyond Harris's poor record.  I'm sorry, but this election is also about the existence of America as a democracy and as a viable country, so I will still reluctantly vote for Harris because a second Trump presidency is unimaginable and would result in an American Armageddon and so the best way to prevent that disaster is to vote for Harris.

Bottom line:  My vote as it relates to Palestine, is unfortunately fairly inconsequential as no voting option in 2024 is even vaguely close to ideal.  However, it is my personal political action and letter writing, my financial support of Palestinians, my boycotting of Israeli-complicit businesses, my efforts to keep speaking out against Israeli war crimes, and my efforts to keep the Palestinian cause alive in my social media communication that matters the most. We can't count on politicians to do the right thing, but we can  take responsibility for making a difference ourselves. It is our urgent moral responsibility and it is something we do have some autonomy to enact.

P.S.  No, I would never consider voting for Jill Stein.  She met with Putin in 2016 and gathered resources from him...she was a willing dupe in his plan to disrupt the American election so that his asset, Trump, would be elected.  In fact, Stein's vote totals in Michigan, Wisconsin, and Pennsylvania in 2016 were more than enough to have elected Hillary Clinton, if Stein's voters would have voted for Clinton instead.  I hope to write a future piece on this blog about Jill Stein and her deceptive campaign to assist Putin and Trump. A vote for Jill Stein in 2024 is still a vote for Putin and Trump, just as it was in 2016, and that is something I refuse to do.
